Is the car park well-lit? This helps give employees and visitors peace of mind when parking their cars after dark, or walking through the car park.

Do you have CCTV camera systems installed? If camera systems are present, ensure that they are in good working order.

Do you operate a site with a large perimeter? Is there an effective perimeter protection system in place to detect threats?

Do you maintain your electeronic systems well? Are they in good working order?

Do you leave the outdoor lights on after dark ,whether someone is in the building or not? If not, ensure security lighting is in place that triggers via a motion sensor.

Have you considered an ANPR CCTV camera system to track the number plates of visitors and other vehicles entering your car park?

Are the doors solid hardwood or metal-clad?

If external doors are fitted with glass, is it reinforced so that they cannot be shattered?

Are you still reliant on old fashioned keys or do you have a keyless / modern key fob door entry system in place?

If not, have you given a trusted employee/manager a set of spare keys?

What happens when keys are lost?

Is there a proper fire door release system in place? This is a legal requirement.

Is there an effective intruder alarm system in place? If so, do you have a process for ensuring the alarm is activated when the business is closed? Who’s responsible?
